Point it at a video you wish you'd made

Point it at a video you wish you'd made. It measures every scene, rebuilds the style in Remotion with your content, then re-analyzes its own output to prove the match.

1

Measure the reference

PySceneDetect finds every cut. Then first, middle, and last frame per scene (three frames is what reads motion direction and easing, not just layout), an 8-color palette, a Whisper transcript, and cut-rhythm metrics.

2

Write the style spec

Pacing, palette, typography, and per-scene motion with easing guesses, all in style-spec.json. Your brand colors swap in, but the reference's contrast relationships stay. Your content replaces theirs; the style is what gets cloned.

3

Rebuild and prove the match

The spec becomes a Remotion TransitionSeries with music matched to the reference's tempo. Then it re-analyzes its own render and prints the diff: scene count, average duration within 15%, cuts per 10s. Off target means fix the timing and re-render once.

Under the hood

5 skills, 3 agents

Skills are knowledge files Claude Code loads automatically when the topic comes up. Agents are read-only specialists a command can dispatch for research or review without polluting your main context.

Skills (5)

Auto-loaded context: the rules, benchmarks, and playbooks the commands cite. Plain Markdown you can open and read.

video-context

Core VideoKit context — video creation routing, engine selection, and brand detection.

video-design

The VideoKit design system — motion rules, type scale, safe zones, transition taste. Read before building any composition.

video-ffmpeg

FFmpeg patterns for video editing — cut, trim, caption, resize, merge, optimize.

video-music

Free music sources, sound design, and FFmpeg audio mixing patterns for video.

video-remotion

Remotion patterns — composition structure, the @remotion/* package map, and the rendering rules that keep output deterministic.

Agents (3)

Dispatched by commands for focused work. Read-only by design: they research and report, they never edit your files.

video-creator

Reviews Remotion composition code for the design-constants pattern and deterministic-render rules.

video-director

Reviews a video plan or composition against the VideoKit design system before render time is spent.

video-editor

Verifies rendered video files — runs the post-render check and reports pass/fail with evidence.

Install

One command, ready in your next session

Authenticate the CLI with your license key, then install. The files land in ./.claude (or ~/.claude with -g) and every /video command shows up immediately.

$ ck install videokit
  • ·Prefer plugins? The kit also loads via Claude Code’s /plugin install flow; both paths ship the same files.
  • ·One license covers 3 devices. Activate and deactivate from your dashboard whenever you switch machines.
  • ·Install prints a per-file token ledger, so you see exactly what 12,602 measured tokens means before your first session pays for it.

Use cases

What people actually use VideoKit for

Can Claude Code actually make videos?

Yes. /video make goes from a description, a URL, or a repo to a finished MP4 with music and transitions, built in Remotion or FFmpeg. Every render gets a post-render verification check, so what you get is a watched, confirmed file, not a maybe.

How do I copy the style of a video I like?

/video clone measures every scene of the reference (cuts, palette, typography, motion, easing), rebuilds the style in Remotion with your content, then re-analyzes its own render and prints the match report. Your text, logos, and footage; their pacing and taste.

How do I turn one long video into social clips?

/video repurpose finds the best moments in a long video automatically, and /video social cuts them for TikTok, Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn, and X in one run. /video caption adds TikTok-style or minimal captions with auto-transcription via Whisper.

How do I make a product demo video from a URL?

/video demo takes your product URL, captures the site, builds zoom-to-click moves and device mockups, adds music, and verifies the output. One URL in, a demo MP4 out, plus the editable Remotion project if you want to tweak it.
