What ClaudeKit collects and why — Convex for account data, Dodo as merchant of record for payments, Resend for transactional email, and opt-in CLI telemetry only.
This is a plain-language description of what data ClaudeKit collects, who processes it, and the choices you have. No dark patterns, no selling your data.
Last updated: June 5, 2026.
What we collect and why
We collect the minimum needed to run the product:
| Data | Why | Processor |
|---|---|---|
| Account data — email, your kit entitlements | To create your account and authorize CLI installs | Convex |
| Payment data — card details, billing address, tax info | To take payment and remit tax | Dodo Payments (merchant of record) |
| Transactional email — your email address and message contents | To send your license key, receipts, and account notices | Resend |
| CLI telemetry — anonymous command/usage events | To improve the CLI — only if you opt in | ClaudeKit |
Account data (Convex)
Your authentication and account records — email and which kits you own — are stored in Convex. This is what powers login, your dashboard, and license validation. We don't sell or share it for advertising.
Payment data (Dodo, merchant of record)
We never see or store your full card details. Dodo Payments is the merchant of record: they process your payment, handle PCI compliance, calculate and remit tax, and store the payment instrument. We receive only what we need to grant access — a customer/payment reference, your plan, and status. Manage payment details and invoices through the Dodo customer portal via Manage billing in your dashboard.
Transactional email (Resend)
We use Resend to send transactional email — your license key and install instructions, receipts, GitHub-invite nudges, and account notices like dunning or cancellation confirmations. These are tied to your purchase and account; they are not marketing blasts. We log that a message was sent (for support and deduplication), not a copy of your inbox.
CLI telemetry is opt-in
The ck CLI sends no usage telemetry unless you explicitly opt in. License validation and kit downloads require network calls to claudekit.dev and GitHub — those are functional, not tracking — but anonymous command/usage analytics are off by default and only collected with your consent. ck doctor runs entirely locally and transmits nothing.
Cookies and analytics
The website uses privacy-respecting, lightweight analytics to understand traffic. We don't use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
Data sharing and sub-processors
We share data only with the processors listed above (Convex, Dodo, Resend), each acting on our behalf to deliver the service, plus our hosting provider (Vercel). We do not sell personal data.
Your choices and rights
- Access, correction, deletion: email hello@theclaudekit.com to request a copy of your data or its deletion. Deleting your account revokes licenses and removes your account records; payment records held by Dodo as merchant of record are retained per their policy and tax-law requirements.
- Telemetry: opt out (or never opt in) at any time in the CLI.
- Email: transactional email is part of the service; you can close your account to stop it.
Changes
We'll post updates here with a new "last updated" date. Questions about your data? Email hello@theclaudekit.com.
